It started with reclaiming control over my own money decisions and habits.

I walked onto the leafy university campus, sure that I’d made the right decision. This was exactly what I expected! Red brick buildings, perfectly laid-out lawns, enthusiastic looking students: my life as a young adult had finally started!

Wait, what’s that? Someone’s handing out credit cards? All they need is my social security number? Sure, I’ll take one! It’s an AMEX too! Life couldn’t get any better!

I look back on this moment as a turning point. Only, this would be a turning point in the wrong direction. Little did I know that that small, plastic card would lead me down the path of misery, self-doubt and poor financial decisions that I would take years to reverse. It is for 16-year old kids who have grown up to struggle with financial decisions and money, that I write this blog.

Someone’s handing out credit cards? Sure, I’ll take one!”

Hi there! My name is Kayus, and I’m a reformed money loser. I know that sounds harsh, but it’s the truth. I was losing at money, badly. Like a driver with no map and a bad sense of directions, I didn’t know what I didn’t know, and I was blissfully moving along with life, assuming that if I just worked harder, earned a bit more money, things would be better…
